Friday Evening
A friend and old boyfriend of Manil and Rajan's daughter arrived on Thursday. Trisham is from the north east of India, but now lives in Goa and works as a designer and photographer. Alex went out for a drive with Ronny, Trisham, and the hostel boys yesterday evening, and today I went out for a drive in the evening with Ronny and Trisham to the top of Sanipalli Hill again. We were hoping to spot wildlife and do some night photography.
My night photography didn't really work out, but Ronny and I were very excited to see a wild porcupine at the top of the hill! It could move surprisingly quickly for such a cumbersome looking creature, and it was also very shy. I tried to get a picture with my point-and-shoot camera as that has a flash, but the porcupine was so quick and so well camouflaged that the picture did not turn out very well...
When we got back, another visitor was there. Micky is an old friend of Manil and Rajan's, and he is the vet to the rescue dogs that live on the SEDS farm. It was his birthday the next day, so Manil had baked him a cake and Alex and I made some simple icing and I decorated the cake with banana slices. We were working on the spur of the moment with what was available, but it was still tasty!
