Lazy Sunday

Today has been a more relaxed day, I went up to the roof to practice some yoga for a bit when I first got up, then we had more fruit for breakfast. Augustine came again, and we chatted a little in between sorting through photographs and trying to tidy up our blogs.

After a while it was time to head out again for lunch. This time we went to Kammanahalli Main Road to a south Indian restaurant for more thali. Although we have thali a lot, each thali comes with different preparations of curries, chutney, sweet, and other accompaniments, so it certainly hasn't got boring yet.

Eating with the hand! It is a bit difficult for me because I'm left-handed, but I'm getting...

Finished, so full now...

A greeter at the restaurant

The four of us travelled in 2 tuk tuks to get to the restaurant, and as we drove along we passed through an area with many interesting looking shops, and unfortunately a few sad looking chickens in cages. Augustine explained to me that this area was a bit poorer in socioeconomic terms, and that in the past it had been a separate village before the city of Bangalore grew and engulfed it.

When lunch was over we decided to explore, and rather than taking in tourist sites or fancy shopping, we walked back the way we had come so that we could see the shops and chat to people along the street. It seems that a lot of life here is conducted publicly with many people out in the streets, and many people are happy to chat or just say hello as you go by. We stand out very obviously - Alex, Sherrie and I are all light skinned with fair hair, and Alex and Sherrie are also tall, so there is no disguising our foreigner status. This means that a lot of people come up to us to ask where we are from, and we've had a few people wanting to talk cricket when they hear we are visiting from Australia.
